Why use it?

As a college, you want to know which students need help and support early on in their journey.

Student+ Profiler provides a cost and time effective solution to deliver support early on in the year. Some tools in the past have looked at Dyslexia only despite each person having a unique and diverse profile. Study skills have not always been considered despite some students having specific challenges.

Student+ Profiler takes a biopsychosocial approach to assessment delivering person-centered guidance to each student in your college from Day 1, helping staff to support all students.

Who can this be used with?

Student+ Profiler has been designed for the college setting.

How will it help the students and the college?

Challenges for most colleges is to deliver a cost and time effective system allowing students to gain appropriate support. Ideally, this is delivered before there are ‘real difficulties’ and students are at risk of ‘dropping out’.

Not all students come with a ‘label’. Some students may be re-entering education after a long break; others may have had challenges since school days and know they need help and want this straight away. Others may have never had their needs assessed and be struggling and find it hard to ask for help.Student+ Profiler offers an equitable approach to pin point early who needs support and delivers a person-centred approach.

Some sixth form colleges are deploying across the campus as a part of the induction process, meaning that every student is supported from the beginning of the year.

What is in the reports?

The Student+ Profiler reports are personalised, depending on the responses given by the student and come in two formats: one for the tutor and one for the student. They contain relevant links to resources, including external websites, as well as support for the organisation. Click here to view a sample report.

Is it accessible?

The system is accessible and the student has the option to change the colours of the page and size of font and voiced where appropriate.

The report and guidance is delivered in a range of formats to suit different learners. The reports can also be read using standard text to speech software.

How do we get started?

You can purchase a site license for Student+ Profiler:

  • An annual site license is a very cost effective way of screening all students entering college and can screen up to 10,000 users at one time. Alternatively, you can buy blocks of licenses.
  • The site can be labeled with the college logo and reports can send students to the services you provide.
  • All data is stored on the Cloud.
  • Students can access the site from home or from the college.
  • Quick and easy to set up with minimal staff training.

Alternatively, you can buy blocks of licenses if you wish to use the system with fewer than 200 students in a year.

Can this be used by all students?

Student+ Profiler is a modular system. It is being used by colleges to deliver a tiered approach.

A whole college approach takes about 30 minutes per student and provides information about specific learning needs and challenges.

Additional module packs are available that can be selectively used:

  • Specialist assessments for student support services including for Dyspraxia (DCD), ADHD, and Dyslexia, assisting with report writing and action planning
  • Health and wellbeing modules and wellbeing action plans
  • Preparation tools for employment
  • Individual action plans

How long does it take to complete?

This is dependent on the number of modules. The initial screening takes about 30 minutes. The student does not have to complete all in one go.

Who else uses it?

Student+ Profiler is being used in colleges today, and feedback has ensured that it fit for purpose. We are always wanting to improve the Profiler so keen to listen to any new ideas you may have for further development.

What computers do we need, or can students use their own laptop or tablet?

The system works through the computer’s or tablet’s browser, and should work on Windows, Apple and Android devices. We do not advise accessing it on a mobile phone.
