Who is the course for?

This course is aimed at those working within the counter-terrorism arena, including CT Policing (CTP) and associated partnership organisations, who wish to develop an understanding of Neurodiversity and how it can impact the wide range of people that those working within CT will have cause to interact with.

Who delivers the training?

James Hall, a former head of a regional CTP unit who has extensive experience in Neurodiversity and Policing, and Professor Amanda Kirby, the CEO of Do-IT Solutions Ltd and has over 30 years of experience in the area of Neurodiversity in a range of settings including justice settings.

This programme includes:

  • Up to 1-hour pre-planning and consultation meeting with the lead organisers to discuss bespoke requirements.
  • Two training days (Virtual) (These can also be delivered over 4 half- days).
  • A comprehensive handout.
  • CPD certificate on completion.

During the course, we will cover:

  • What is Neurodiversity?
  • What are some of the commonly associated neurodivergent conditions?
  • The rule of overlap for Neurodivergent conditions.
  • The prevalence of Neurodiversity within the Criminal Justice System (CJS) and specifically within CT.
  • What are the traits associated with some of the Neurodivergent conditions?
  • Neurodivergent conditions and traits most likely encountered by those working in CT.
  • Legal and procedural considerations.
  • Suggested approaches to achieving positive interactions with Neurodivergent individuals.
  • Scenarios relevant to CT that are designed to consider the application of Neurodiversity knowledge (These can be tailored to the recipients’ requirements).
